He's the new Director of the National Hurricane Center, the guy we'll be looking to for the definitive information about hurricanes throughout the season.
You'll have the opportunity to meet him this Wednesday at a Community Hurricane Preparedness Event at the Hurricane Grill and Wings in Deerfield Beach. Director Read will go over the 2008 hurricane predictions and discuss storm preparedness and survival.
The event starts at 11 a.m. at 3438 W. Hillsboro Blvd., and it's free.
