    Understand our ballots

As we get closer to election day, I thought I'd do a little research on some of the non-Presidential issues that'll be on the Florida ballots. You know - those amendments and referendums that are always filled with double and triple-negatives and are so difficult to understand that you think you're voting one way, and you find out later that you voted the opposite of what you wanted?

Well, ballotpedia.org is like a voting wikipedia. It explains the amendments that will be on the November ballot and also lists all the initiatives that didn't make the ballot. For example, a proposal to lower the state voting age to 16 couldn't get enough signatures to make the ballot. And a proposal to do away with alimony didn't make it. Even a couple of attempts to put limits on property taxes couldn't get enough signatures to go for a statewide vote.

It's fascinating to see what didn't make it to the ballot, but also important to understand the amendments that we will be voting on.

    Here's the guide.
