    Nightmare on 95

Maybe it's just the growing pains that come with progress ... but the transition from the HOV lane to the 95 Express lanes has been less than smooth.

Instead of having one lane for High Occupancy Vehicals, we now have 2 lanes reserved for drivers willing to pay for the privilege of not having to slow down for exits. The express lanes debuted this week on 95 Northbound in Miami-Dade, running from the 112 to the Golden Glades Interchange. Unfortunately, confusion about how the lanes work has resulted in more accidents than usual.

The idea is to go straight from 112 to the Golden Glades without stopping - so there are no exits from the express lanes. If you need to exit anywhere between those 2 points, you have to stay to the right, out of the express lanes.

South Florida Commuter Services is doing their best to answer your questions at the website www.95express.com.
